discofon was a joint project of footils, gemischtwaren, tondatei and kikkerbillen for Passagen 2010.
Discofon produces individual ringtones by using an interactive dance mat and your own voice. This is made possible by the Acoustic Pattern Ring Tone Machine – APRTM, exclusively written for discofon by Frank Barknecht, with a little help from Pure Data. The discofon world premiere took place in January 2010 at Thor Zimmermann’s shop. The sound database was composed by Andreas Lemke. We produced all graphics for the project.
